In college I sent in some of the Devil’s Panties strips to my local independent newspaper and called it “Realities Victim”. Â I got a polite rejection letter and my mom said I needed a stack of rejection letters about two inches high before I’d get an acceptance letter. I didn’t send anything into syndicated newspapers again though. No money in it.

My mom had us all come by to pick up the boxes of our childhood school papers and art and photos. We also distributed a lot of my fathers art collection. Years of exhibiting at sidewalk art shows and craft fairs filled the house with traded paintings, pottery, ceramics, and glass as well as his stone sculptures and my mothers stained glass art. I’ve taken car loads of furniture, clothes, and books to Goodwill but I can’t throw out the art. I’ve got closets full of it. Not enough wall space for it all. I’m trying to put everything into storage for now and pack as little as possible for the move. We still don’t know when or really where we’re going. We’re just trying to get rid of most of our crap.
Moving forward is good for stress relief, even if you don’t know where you’re going. Obby’s still looking for a job, but this has opened up where the search can lead.
I usually wait until the end of a “story arc” before I start doing cartoons about it. In this case, I have no idea what happens next. I’ll keep you posted, but for now this is all the story that there is to tell.
