okay, after writing the rollover text I googled “Medieval sitcom 1990’s” and holy shit, it was called “Covington Cross”. It lasted about two months. I saw a commercial for it when I was 12 and begged my mom to let me stay up to watch it. She never did. I’m watching the first episode now and holy shit, it’s worse than I remember the commercial being.
