I was only able to sneak over to Artist Alley once during Comic con. It’s on the opposite end of the half a mile long hall. Unfortunately they’re on the other side of all the giant vendors like Lego, Hasbro, and Fox. These vendors had giant monitors and speakers and were all trying to blare louder than their neighbor. Poor artist alley was drowned out with all the noise. I did get to fangirl all over the ever elegant Wendy Pini of Elfquest. I even bought her latest book, but more on that later.
An out take of Portal II was a last shot of the space personality core was it finally getting fed up with space and wanting to go home. But that was too sad so I’m glad they left it out.
This actually happened two years ago. Obby had brought a big bag of fire works to the beach that year. We set some off and there was a particularly big one that we set up. My family, used to setting off small fire crackers in the woods, stood to watch. Obby and I lit it and ran about 200 feet away. I didn’t fully realize how big the fire cracker was going to be until it shot up in the air and exploded into a giant ball of sparks and noise. Seeing flashlights light up down the beach, we grabbed the bag of fire works and ran for the house. My mom trailed behind saying that if the cops got her first, she’d stall them.
The wings comment was from this fourth of July. As Obby and I set off sparklers and cherry bombs in the street outside our house, Obby pulled out a small rocket. I got nervous when I saw the wings. It flies great if it heads into the air. Not so much if it goes to ground first. Then it just shoots around like a pin ball and sometimes might go strait to the big bag of fire works I had next to my chair. Very exciting.
While frolicking in the sand and surf we were unwittingly treated to an air show courtesy of Operation Mailed Fist.
There was some debate as to whether they had meant a manila envelope containing a visceral right hook, or some gnarly set of medieval brass knuckles.
This was a debate in which neither side could lose.
During the exercise various parts of the east coast were treated to displays of military might. The Marines in our neck of the woods seemed to be focused on dusting off the entire fleet of Harriers one jet at a time.
They were in fact flying lower and slower each pass. This stirred up various theories.
