There was a point in time when our marriage would have attracted the audience of many a burning cross. Hell, if recent polls have any truth to them whatsoever, there are still places in this country where we would be judged. It’s such an alien concept to me, and every time I encounter a bigoted comment I have to snap out of it and realize that I’m not reading The Onion and they probably aren’t trolling… because those firehoses weren’t photoshopped, and people really did have to march and take up arms, and it really was only 12 years ago when “interracial” marriage was legalized in Alabama.
Now the cycle continues, and lo and behold, there’s never a shortage of people out there ready to “Preserve America”… again.

What’s terrifying is that the only part that I made up in these quotes is that I added “real” and “fake”. I did make up the conversation with the guy in the waiting room though.
I remember in middle school a girl in class said that her sister wasn’t getting pregnant because she was having sex standing up. It’s incredible the things that fill your mind in lieu of knowledge, and you’re not going to stop your horned up kids from bumping uglies.

I get riled up whenever someone talks about cutting funding for research, especially NASA. It boggles my mind that we can send almost 4 Curiosity rovers per year, every year, for the cost of employing our little army of voyeuristic Freedom Fluffers.
