HodgePodge Coffee House in Atlanta is awesome.

From a drawing session that I went to months ago at HodgePodge coffee house. December 16th, 7 minute and 30 second sketch. The model wore a bathing suit so it was easier to figure out proportion because you had a point of reference.
The first panel is a story where my friends and I were in my car and we realized that there was a train coming along the tracks next to us. My friend Becca started motioning for him to blow his whistle and he did and the car full of girls started squealing and screaming in glee.
The second panel is about the space unicorn music video that my friend Surly Queen showed me.
HodgePodge is my favorite coffee shop. I bike there and eat pastries and draw comics. This is the conversation that we had except I didn’t say that last part. The baristas’ hair was so wonderfully blue and I loved her shirt.
Hodge Podge is my new favorite place.
It’s a coffee shop and gallery that’s been open for about three months now. Thursdays they have open crafts (so far, just knitters) and open mike night. We munched on bacon cheese roles, iced coffee, and was serenaded as we knitted.
Also, it’s on my bike rout from home and the post office.
So people should buy more stuff from my store so I have an excuse to stop in at the awesome coffee shop. I may have to do a cartoon about the little girl and her friend “Bruiser” the pit bull at the junk yard next door.
I was biking through Grant Park on my way to the coffee shop to get some cartoons done (because there is only so long that you can stay in your house before you go stir crazy) and I noticed some very sturdy swings. First, I swung. It was a bit more … woobidy feeling than I remember it. Then I sat down and sketched out the cartoon and took some reference photos.
I got two more cartoon ideas out of the coffee shop trip. I sketched them out while sipping iced chai. I was informed by an Indian waiter once that it is not “Chai Tea” because you are saying “Tea” twice, just in two different languages.
oh, and even though I wear a bike helmet, I do not have eyes or horns or teeth on it. I WANT them though. The internet does not have monster attachments for bike helmets. FAIL! There is, however, unicorn helmet porn, so the rules still apply. Derby Girls have amazing art on their helmets. There is a lovely Unicorn helmet that my big brother has for driving the tractor. I think I may be making a trip to the craft store for sculpy.
