Because society has clearly told mothers that it’s THEIR job to get everyone ready and out the door (or fed or packed) and their own needs come as an afterthought. Obby is still trying to figure out why I’m trailing after everyone because my own shoes aren’t on and my own bag isn’t with me. I do this with dinner too. Everyone is halfway through dinner and I’m still getting my own drink and cutlery. Because I spend all my time getting everyone else’s shoes and drinks and food. I just need to communicate clearly to the other grownups around me what needs to get done and stop thinking I’m the only one who can do everything. Just because society says I can do everything on my own, doesn’t mean I have to.
