The doctors and nurses said the whole process of getting the baby up and feeding/burping/changing and getting her back to sleep should take about a half hour. In what universe does that take a half hour?!? Getting her to wake up enough to try and nurse sometimes was a 45 minute process. I’d nurse her until she got frustrated with me (another 45 minutes) and then we’d give her a bottle. She’d drink another 80ml while I pumped out a couple drops. It always felt so counterproductive to be bottle feeding her while I sat next to her using a mechanical pump to try and get more milk out. It took two months to get my supply up to speed but we still supplemented until she went to solids. Of all the fears I had about having a kid, nursing was not on the list.
