The morning shift of teachers had gone home, so the people who saw me drop Liz off weren’t there. The teachers knew I wasn’t trying to kidnap anyone. I was the one who was mostly freaked out by the realization that I didn’t really have a quick way to prove that she was mine. Liz totally ignored me to the point that the other kids looked over when I called her name. Anyway, it was a weird mom stress moment.
The duck and the ball are a reference to Kate Beaton’s “King Baby”. Some of our favorite kids books right now are “Chu’s Day” series. Any of the Robert McCloskey books but mostly “One Morning in Maine”. “Rosie Revere, Engineer” is our favorite of the Andrea Beaty books. “Thank you, Omu!” and “Saturday” by Oge Mora. Any of the Julia Donaldson books but my favorite is “The Cook and the King”. “The little blue truck” series is cute too.
